The Calvert explorers returned to camp today with great gusto ready to spent the day in the Windy City. Some of the activities revolved around learning historical facts about Chicago. The 7th Age campers practiced sounding out syllables; while the 8th Agers created ferris wheel story boards. Both the 9th Age and 10th Age campers read diaries of the adventures of several famous people during their time in Chicago. All of the students practiced measurement skills in math; some focusing on area and perimeter skills. The 10th Agers designed playgrounds! Following a lunch of Chicago Bear sliders and savory fries; the campers spent the afternoon creating stain glass windows (similar to Chicago bungalow stain glass windows) and making deep dish pizza. The afternoon game was dodge ball in the Middle School Gym. What a treat for the Lower School campers. We had a splendid day in the Windy City! The campers and teachers will sleep well tonight!
